Traditional House In Bambili

This is a sample of the first houses built in Bambili by the first settlers. It had just one door and a small window for ventilation. At night the window was stuffed with banana leaves to prevent cold. It was usually a single room building with a rolling shutter made out of well arranged bamboos. The outer part is made of sticks and bamboos attached to each other by ropes made from fresh bamboo. After framing thick mud was used to close up the gaps between them. The inner part is made of well selected and arranged bamboos to ensure beauty and comfort. It served both as a sleeping room and a kitchen with bamboo 🛏️ beds  for sleeping and shelves for storage. The pillars are well selected slender species of trees or date palms.
